Baseball Falls to Tusculum College

BOX SCORE

GREENVILLE, TN--The Bloomsburg University baseball banged out 12 hits but came up short in a 6-3 loss to Tusculum College on Tuesday.

Trailing 2-0 after the first inning, the Huskies cut the lead in half when Preston Hitchcock (Laceyville/Wyalusing) singled scoring Paul Eckley (Port Matilda/State College) who had singled to open the inning. After Tusculum pushed its lead to 4-1 with single runs in the third and sixth innings, the Huskies came back and cut the lead back to one run by plating two in the top of the seventh inning.

With one out, Kevin Plott (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley) and Hitchcock hit back-to-back singles, then moved up a base on a passed ball. After an out, Vinnie James (Bristol/Bristol) singled scoring Plott, while Hitchcock scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-3.

Tusculum, though, got the runs back in the bottom of the seventh and held on for the win.

Eckley led the Huskies going 3-4, while Hitchcock, Matt Allen (DuBoistown/South Williamsport) and Kevin Ward (Upper Darby/Monsignor Bonner) each had two hits. Michael Griggs (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) took the loss going the first six innings.

Bloomsburg, 4-6, will play at Tusculum again on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
